“What kind of times are these
When it’s almost a crime to talk about trees
Because it means keeping still about so many evil deeds?”
—Bertolt Brecht, “For Those Born Later” |
“ … why do I tell you
anything? Because you still listen, because in times like these
to have you listen at all, it’s necessary
to talk about trees.”
—Adrienne Rich, “What Kind of Times Are These”
Silva
Inspired by poets’ meditations on the interplay of art and
society, Silva follows the figure of the tree in a
multi-form choreographic collage of poetry and image—an
exploration of the process of cognition in art, and of the
overlaps of culture and nature.
