Jennifer Shook, Caffeine Theatre’s Artistic Director, directed Translations; Ion; The Cure at Troy; The Cocktail Party; Doña Rosita, or The Language of Flowers; and Sailing to Byzantium; and created Silva: A Poetry Collage. Jennifer is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Dramaturgy and Criticism at The Theatre School at DePaul University, and Literary Manager at Silk Road Theatre Project, as well as a freelance dramaturg and director.  She has worked frequently with The Hypocrites and TimeLine Theatre, and is Guest Dramaturg for Goodman Theatre's Horton Foote Festival.  Jennifer has also directed, dramaturged, or assisted at theatres including Mary-Arrchie (Map, Clearing Hedges, The General of Hot Desire), Aardvark (Estrogen Fest ’01), Collaboraction (Sketchbook ’01 and ‘02), Eclipse (Another Part of the Forest, Lost in Yonkers), Goodman (Death of a Salesman, Waiting for Godot), Circle (Hedda Gabler), Stone Circle (The Collector), Buffalo Theatre Ensemble (Angels in America), Dallas Theater Center (The Ten Thousand Things, Intimate Exchanges, The Collected Works of Billy the Kid, Long Day’s Journey into Night), the San Francisco Mime Troupe, Court (The Little Foxes, The Learned Ladies), where she worked as Artistic Associate, and Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, where she served as Literary Manager. Graduate of the University of Chicago (Master of Arts Program in the Humanities), Swarthmore College, and La Mama’s International Director’s Symposium, Jennifer has also taught at Columbia College.  You can hear her talk about "Early American Music and Performance" or "Abraham Lincoln in Popular Culture" through the Illinois Humanities Council's Road Scholars Bureau.
